FCI Aliceville is known commonly known as Federal Correctional Institution, Aliceville. FCI Aliceville is a medium-security prison. It is in Aliceville Alabama. It is a federal prison for prison inmates. The FCI Aliceville is operated and managed by Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The FCI Aliceville facility consists of another satellite prison camp. It’s another minimum-security female prison. FCI Aliceville is in the unincorporated part of Pickens County. The area between Pickensville and Aliceville. The facility sits on 650-acres alongside Alabama State Route 14. It is nestled 2.5 miles north of Aliceville.

FCI Aliceville happens to the very first federal women’s prison in Alabama. It is home to 1508 female inmates.

FCI Aliceville started construction back in 2008. Two construction companies oversaw construction of the facility; W.G. Yates & Sons and Caddell. The facility was estimated to cost $185 million.  The facility did not open until 2013. With the opening of the facility, it was going to provide plentiful of jobs and boosts Aliceville local businesses.

When the facility opened the Federal Bureau of Prisons were transferring all inmates from FCI Danbury to FCI Aliceville, as FCI Danbury was converting to an all-male Federal Correctional Institution.

Commissary

The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions. 

The commissary allows inmates to shop for “luxury” items while they are in prison. Funds are typically deposited by their friends, families, and their prison jobs. 

Inmates have a spending limit of $360 per month. The commissary is only open on a designated day of the week where they can utilize the shop.

Legal Activities

Even when in prison, you may still need legal counsel. There are strict procedures one will have to follow to obtain legal reference materials alongside their legal counsel.

Visitation

To visit an inmate serving time in the FCI Aliceville, you first must be put on their approved list.

When an inmate first comes to the FCI Aliceville, they fill out a visitor form. When they complete their share, a form is mailed off to those individuals who were listed on the visitor form and send it back to the facility. The facility may call and request more background information, if needed.

Visitation is weekends only; Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm. Visitors are also allowed to visit on Federal Holidays from 8 am to 3 pm also. Visitors must be on the inmates approved visitors list.

Dress Code

When visiting the facility, please dress appropriately. No miniskirts, halter tops, or other clothes not suitable for a job interview. If such clothing is worn, you will be denied visitation.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
