The City of Anchorage Jail is also known as Anchorage City Jail. The facility is managed by the Anchorage Police Department. The people who are arrested typically are here for short periods of time before they are transferred out to the Anchorage County Jail.

How to Find Someone in Anchorage City Jail

Looking for someone in the Anchorage City Jail is easier than ever now. You do not have to phone anyone. You do not have to play phone tag. You do not have to wait on hold. Not to mention, you no longer must worry about them hanging up on you!

You can find the Anchorage City Jail database on the official Anchorage Police Department website. You can do a quick inmate search there. You can search for inmates by their first and last name, date of birth, or their arrest number.

When you do the search, you will need to click on the inmate’s name to find out where they are located. You will also be able to see what they are being charged with, if they have a bond, and other important information.

Keep in mind that if they are being charged with Class B Misdemeanor or above, they will be transferred to the Anchorage County Jail after 24 hours of being in the Anchorage City Jail.

Inmates that were transferred out of the Anchorage City Jail will not appear in the database.

Sending Money

To send money to inmates, you will need to take a money order down to the Anchorage City Jail front desk. On that money order, you will need to have the inmates first and last name along with their inmate ID number.

Visitation

Visits are allowed 24/7. The only times when visits are not permitted is when the inmates have court and during their meal times.

When visiting an inmate, you will need to know his or her arrest number and their date of birth. This information can easily be located on the database.
You will need to bring a photo identification card with you to be permitted into the visitation area. If you are bringing someone under the age of 17, a jail supervisor will have to review the request before they are permitted to visit.

If you or the inmate were previously in a domestic violence incident or an altercation, the visit will be denied.

How Often Can I Visit?

You can visit as often as you would like. If the inmate is available and you are in good standing with the Anchorage City Jail, you will be permitted to see the inmate.
