The department of corrections in Alaska keeps one main updated inmate database of all inmates currently incarcerated throughout the state, where the general public can search and use.

Unlike the state of Alaska, the county jails alongside the city jails each have their own inmate databases that you will need to go to their individual websites for further details on how to correctly search through their inmates. When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.

The Alaska Department of Corrections database can be found on the official VINELink website. You will need to select the state of Alaska. You will then want to select that you are searching for an offender or a defendant.

You can search the database by using the following pieces of information:

• ID Number
• Case Number
• Name

For an accurate search, it is best to put in the offenders full first and last name. You can do partial if you are not sure of the spelling, but keep in mind that may bring up more offenders that you will need to weed through.

When you do a successful Alaska inmate search, you will all offenders that fit your criteria. You will see the following information:

• Inmate Name
• Age
• Gender
• Race

You can click on this information and it will bring up the following information:

• Ethnicity
• ID Number
• Custody Status Date
• Custody Status
• Custody Detail
• Reporting Agency
