The Arcata Jail is also commonly known as the Arcata Detention Center. Arcata Jail is one of the two facilities that makes up the Humboldt County. The other facility is the Humboldt County Jail.

The Arcata Jail is also known as the Downtown Detention Center. It holds those inmates who are waiting to get transferred to their “home” prison or inmates waiting to make bond.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters from their family and friends. Inmates can also receive books too. The books must be softcover books. The books must be sent either from the store or a publisher.

There are three ways to fund an inmate’s account.

You can fund an account by using the kiosk in the Downtown Detention Facility. The kiosks take cash or credit card payments. You will need to know the inmate’s CD number in order to put money in their account.

Another way you can fund an inmate’s account is to use postal money orders and drop them off at the information desk in the Arcata Jail. Again, you will need to inmate’s CD number.

The last way you can fund an inmate’s account is by using Access Corrections. Again, you will need the inmate’s CD number to finish the transaction. However, this method incurs a fee.

Visitation

In order to visit an inmate, you will need to use the Arcata Jail online jail reservation tool. If you do not have access to a computer, you can also call the Arcata Jail at 707-822-2428.

Keep in mind that all visits are video only visits at the Arcata Jail.

If you have not received an email confirmation or a phone call confirmation means your visit has not been approved. Your visit may not have been approved because you are missing information, invalid dates, invalid times, session time is full, inmates have no more visits left, or inmate is busy that day.

How Often Can I Visit?

Inmates at the Arcata Jail are permitted 2 visits per week. You will need to work with other friends and family member to make sure everyone will be able to visit.

Holiday

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
