As you may have noticed, there are other inmates in this database that are not residing in the Ironwood State Prison. The California Department of Corrections manages and operates many other prisons throughout the state. They can all be found in this single database.
Inmates at the Ironwood State Prison can receive written letters from their friends and family. These letters are checked when they arrive at the prison for safety concerns. When sending letters, there are many things that cannot or should not be sent with your letter. These items will be taken out of your letter before the staff hands it to the inmate.

Inmates can receive care packages. However, the care packages cannot be sent from home. All care packages will need to go through an authorized vendor. The California Department of Corrections has the list of approved vendors available on their website. All packages that are sent from home, will be returned to the sender.
When in the Ironwood State Prison inmates will need money. Prison is not cheap on the inside. Inmates will need money to use the telephone. Inmates will need money to purchase extra clothing, hygiene products, snacks, beverages, entertainment and much more.
The Ironwood State Prison offer the family and friends of the inmates three easy ways to deposit funds into their accounts.
There is no fee to use the LockBox service. This method provides a shorter holding time for those individuals that rather use a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order.
This option is the fastest option out of the three. The electronic fund transfer is a paid service; however, funds will be posted in the inmate’s account between 1 to 3 days.

There is not a fee to use this service. However, out of the three options, this is the slowest. Once the prison gets your check or money order, it will be subjected to a 30-day hold.
The inmates at the Ironwood State Prison can have visitors. Visitors can come on Saturdays and Sunday between the hours of 8:30am to 3pm. If you plan on visiting, you will need to be at the prison before 2pm. If you come after 2pm, you will be denied visitation for that day.
Visitors will need to fill out and submit their visitor application. Once approved, visitors can come down to the prison during the visiting hours to visit with their inmate. They will need to bring their driver’s license, state identification card, or their United States passport to be brought back to the visitation area.
Visitors can visit during the visiting times. Visits can be canceled at any time without any notice. Keep in mind, inmates cannot have visitors if they are being disciplined. You can also book an appointment to visit on the VPASS website too.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
