The Colorado Department of Corrections keeps all files on inmates in the Colorado state prisons. While the department of corrections tries to keep their records as accurate as possible, there may be times when you will find skewed information.
If incorrect information is found, please contact the department of corrections at 719-226-4569. You can search for inmates by their CDOC number, first and last name, and gender.
If they have two last names, you will want to run them together and omit the hyphen. Unlike the Colorado Department of corrections, the city and county jails keep their own records separately. You will have to contact them on how to search for an inmate in one of those jails.

How to Do an Inmate Search in Colorado
When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.
The Colorado prison inmate lookup database can be found on the official Colorado Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation website.
You can search the inmate list database by using the following pieces of information:
CDOC Number
First Name
Last Name
Gender
The CDOC number will take precedence during all searches. The CDOC is a six-digit number. All incoming inmates will be assigned their CDOC by the Colorado Department of Corrections. This will be the easiest and quickest way to locate an inmate.
If you decide to enter their CDOC number in the field provided, you will NOT need to enter their first and last name. However, the CDOC field will only show results for the EXACT number you have entered, so you will want to double check, if no results pop up.
If you don’t know the inmate’s CDOC number or there is no search results for the CDOC number you plugged in, your next thing you can do is search by the inmate’s first and last name.
When you finally get some search results, you will see a list of all inmates that fit the criteria you plugged in.
You will see the following pieces of information:
Inmate Name
CDOC Number
Ethnicity
Gender
Facility
Age
You can click on the inmate’s name to bring up their own personal file. When you do this, you will see the following information:
