The New York Residential Reentry Management serves the United States Marshals Service, federal courts, local corrections, and state corrections.
The facility gets majority of their inmates from federal prisons. Most of the inmates have short sentences and are ready for the next step in their rehabilitation process.
The facility is like a halfway house. It does not have the prison feel to it. Inmates have a bit more freedom in the New York Residential Reentry Management.

Inmates at the New York Residential Reentry Management are in here as their last stop before they are released from prison. The facility provides a structured day, but the inmate-to-staff ratio is very low. The atmosphere here in the New York Residential Reentry Management is not prison like at all.
Inmates in the facility will be required to work. There are many work assignments they are offered. This is to provide them with on the job training, while also gaining communication skills, and accountability. Not all jobs offered by the New York Residential Reentry Management are in the four walls of the prison. The New York Residential Reentry Management also contracts with many organizations throughout the community that offers inmates work too.
Those inmates that cannot work due to health reasons, or various other reasons will not be left behind. They will have to enroll in either an educational course, release preparation course, or drug education course.
Depending on the inmate’s background, they may be required to enroll in an educational course, if they do not have their high school diploma. Inmates who have a prior history of drug abuse, will be required to enroll in drug education courses.
All programs that the New York Residential Reentry Management has to offer will provide inmates with the necessary tools they will need when they are released from prison.
