The Lake County Jail is in Waukegan, Illinois. The facility is operated and managed by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. 

The Lake County Jail is also known as the Lake County Sheriff’s Adult Corrections Facility. The facility opened back in March of 1989. The Lake County Jail was replacing another 20-year old facility. The current Lake County Jail can house up to 740 inmates at a given time. 

The mission of the Lake County jail is to provide the inmates with all the tools they need while also being cost-effective.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates in the Lake County Jail can receive written letters from their family and friends. These letters will be checked by jail staff upon arrival for safety issues. After the staff examines all the mail, they will pass them out to the correct inmates. 

When sending items to the prison along with your letters, there are a lot of things you should refrain from sending. Such as the following:

Inmates in the Lake County Jail can also receive books, magazines, and newspapers. The books, magazines, and newspapers will need to be delivered directly to the prison from the bookstore or publisher. All incoming books will be required to be paperback. Inmates will need money while they are in the Lake County Jail. You can deposit money into an inmate's account in a few different ways.

You can come down to the Lake County Jail and use the TouchPay Kiosk that is in the lobby of the jail during business hours. The TouchPay kiosk accepts credit, debit, or cash.

$0 between $20.00: $2.95 fee
$20.01 between $100.00: $4.45 fee
$101.01 between $300.00: $5.95 fee

Visitation

Inmates in the Lake County Jail can receive visitors. Keep in mind that all visitors under the age of 18 will are permitted to visit, but they will need to be accompanied by their legal guardian. All visitors will be required to present either their driver’s license, state identification card, or their United States Passport, before being permitted to visit.

Remember, all your personal belongings will be required to stay in your car. No personal belongings will be permitted to be in the visitation area.

The Lake County Jail uses Securus for their video visits. All visits are video. There are no contact visits. Visiting’s are on Saturdays and Sundays.

Holiday

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
