When doing a successful inmate search, you will be able to find their personal identifying information alongside what agency arrested them, where they were arrested, what charges they have (present and past) and their Iowa mugshot.

The Monroe County Jail provides three ways that family and friends can send money to an inmate. Using any of the three options below will instantly put money into an inmate’s account.

Kiosk

There are kiosks in the lobby of the jail. They can be mistaken for an ATM machine, but this machine does not give out money, it takes it instead and puts it directly into the inmate’s commissary account. The kiosk accepts $5 bills or higher along with debit and credit cards that are either MasterCard or Visa.

For any deposit up to $300, there will be a $4 service fee. You can use this service 24 hours a day.

By Phone

Call 641-932-7815 toll-free to make a telephone deposit using your credit/debit card with the VISA or MasterCard logo. The fees for the phone service are as follows:

You can the toll-free number 641-932-7815 to make a deposit by telephone. Here you can use debit and credit cards that are either MasterCard or Visa.

Online

You can also visit Access Corrections online to make deposits into inmate’s accounts. To use this method, you will have to create an online account. The fees associated with this service are as follows:

  • Below $19.99: $2.95
  • $20.00 - $99.99: $5.95
  • $100.00 - $199.99: $7.95
  • $200.00 - $300.00: $9.95

Phone calls

Inmates use to be able to purchase a phone card from the commissary; however, that has been phased out. They can still head on down to the commissary and purchase time increments if they so choose.

However, if you, the family member or friend would like to fund their account from the outside you can do that.

Monroe County Jail contracts with Securus Technologies for their telephone service. The company offers 3 different plans for you to choose from.

Advance Connect

This option is the prepaid calling option. This will allow you to be in control of how much money you are spending for phone time. It is very useful for those trying to stick to a budget.

Direct Bill

This option is like your own personal phone service, you will get a monthly bill for the time you used. This can get expensive, if you do not pay attention to how long you are using the phone service.

This plan is typically for friends and family of inmates who will be behind bars for a long period of time, bail bondsmen, and attorneys.

Keep in mind, this plan does require a credit check to qualify.

Inmate Debit

This option will allow inmates to fund their own telephone account. The debit comes directly from the inmate’s phone account, so you do not have to make an account like in the previous two options. You will still be able to put money into the account, but the account will not be tied to your name.

Visitation

Inmates can receive visitors. The visitation schedule goes by the inmates last name.

If you can’t visit during those times above, the Monroe County Jail also offers visitation on these two days below. These are for all inmates.

Before you can visit, you will need to make sure you brought your government ID. You will have to pass a metal detector too.

Visitors must adhere to the jails dress code. You cannot wear the following:

  • See-through Clothing
  • Sleeveless Clothing
  • Spandex
  • Rips or tears in jeans
  • Dress or Shorts higher than 3-inches above the knee

Visitors will not be able to bring anything into the visitation area. You will need to store all your personal belongings in your automobile before entering the facility.

If you fail to adhere to the rules, you will be denied visitation rights, right on the spot.
