FCC Pollock is commonly known as the Federal Correctional Complex, Pollock. The facility is a federal prison camp in Louisiana. It is home to male inmates. The FCC Pollock is operated and managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. 

The FCC Pollock is composed of two facilities. These facilities include the following: 

•    FCI Pollock commonly known as the Federal Correctional Institution, Pollock. The facility is a medium-security federal prison. 
•    USP Pollock commonly known as the United States Penitentiary, Pollock. The facility is a high-security federal prison. Adjacent to the USP Pollock is a minimum-security satellite prison camp. 

FCI Pollock was under construction between 2005 to 2007. Flintco was the builder of the facility. Flintco is an Oklahoma-based construction company. 

USP Pollock opened their doors in 2000. Notable inmates housed in USP Pollock are Richard Lee McNair. He was convicted of robbery and murder. McNair escaped from the facility in 2006. It was not until 18 months later when he was captured by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive written letters from their family and friends. Keep in mind that all letters coming into the prison are inspected for contraband before the inmates receive their mail. Any and all items not allowed in prison will either be properly disposed of or returned to sender. 

Since FCC Pollock contains two facilities and a satellite prison camp, you will need to make sure you know what facility the inmate you are communicating with is in. All facilities have different mailing addresses.

Do NOT send money to an inmate using the USP Pollock address. All funds sent through the mail must be addressed to a processing center in Des Moines, Iowa. This applies to all Federal inmates, regardless of where they are incarcerated.

Email

The last way to stay in touch with an inmate at USP Pollock is through email. Email is also through Trulincs.

The email program is funded by the inmate trust fund, which is kept up with purchases from the commissary, the telephone service, and fees paid directly to Trulincs.

Emails are monitored and screened for content not suitable for them.

Admissions and Orientation Handbook

Your first day in prison, you are bombarded with a ton of information. One booklet you will be giving is the Admissions and Orientation (A&O) Handbook. 

This handbook will supply you with general information about the prison itself alongside the prison’s rules, programs, and regulations you will have to follow while you are serving out your sentence. 

It will be in your best interest to familiarize yourself with handbook as it is your responsibility to transition smoothly to prison life.

Commissary

The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions. 

The commissary allows inmates to shop for “luxury” items while they are in prison. Funds are typically deposited by their friends, families, and their prison jobs. 

Inmates have a spending limit of $360 per month. The commissary is only open on a designated day of the week where they can utilize the shop.

Legal Activities

Even when in prison, you may still need legal counsel. There are strict procedures one will have to follow to obtain legal reference materials alongside their legal counsel.

There are also many opportunities to be taken advantage of to afford the proposal of legal documents when behind bars.

Visitation

Family and friends of the inmates can visit them while they are serving out their time in FCC Pollock. Visitation is held on certain days. Before anyone will be allowed to visit an inmate, they must be on the approved visitors list. You can put yourself on the approved visitors list by logging on to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and fill out the form. Everyone in your party will need to be on the list or they will not be able to enter the visitation area. 

When visiting you will need to supply either your driver’s license, or you will need to supply your state identification card. 

Currently visiting for USP Pollock is suspended. Typically, when visiting hours are suspended it is to discipline their inmates, or the prison itself is on a lockdown. 

Dress Code

When visiting the facility, please dress appropriately. No miniskirts, halter tops, or other clothes not suitable for a job interview. If such clothing is worn, you will be denied visitation.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.

Prison Life

Inmates housed in the FCI Pollock will be housed in either one-person cells or two-person cells. The cell assignment is completely random.

Inmates housed in the USP Pollock have similar housing options as the FCI Pollock. Inmates will either be housed in one-person cells or two-person cells. Again, the cell assignment is completely random. 

While inmates in the satellite prison camp are housed in dormitories. Within these dormitories’ inmates will be sharing their cells with one another.
