The Louisiana Department of Corrections is the agency behind keeping all inmate records who are serving time in Louisiana state prisons.

Louisiana Department of Corrections uses the Vine system. The Vine system is where you can locate offenders and get email, phone call, or text notifications when they get transferred or released.

You can also call the Louisiana Offender Locator at 225-383-4580 24 hours a day. You will need to have the inmate’s DOC number or the inmates first and last name along with their date of birth. The Department of corrections database is updated on a once every 24-hour schedule.

When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are the property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections database can be found on the official VINELink website. You will need to select the state of Louisiana. You will then want to select that you are searching for an offender or a defendant.

You can search the database by using the following pieces of information:

• ID Number
• Case Number
• Name

For an accurate search, it is best to put in the offenders full first and last name. You can do partial if you are not sure of the spelling, but keep in mind that may bring up more offenders that you will need to weed through.

When you do a successful Louisiana inmate search, you will all offenders that fit your criteria. You will see the following information:

• Inmate Name
• Age
• Gender
• Race

You can click on this information and it will bring up the following information:

• Ethnicity
• ID Number
• Custody Status Date
• Custody Status
• Custody Detail
• Reporting Agency

Here you will be permitted to set up notifications. These notifications can come through mail, phone calls, and text messages. Whenever an update is made to this chart, you will be notified. The inmate will not know that you are subscribed to these alerts and will NEVER be permitted to have these details either.
