The jail does not only deal with current inmates, but they also make it their mission to support prior inmates when they go back into society by providing them a lot of programs that will help them keep a positive attitude and make sure they change their behaviors.

The jail can hold up to 36 inmates. The jail has employees in health services, main jail, work & release programs, booking & transportation, training, and citizen liaison, central support services, contract services divisions, and professional standards and accreditation.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters in the mail. You will need to address the envelope as follows:

Writing materials can be purchased from the commissary. Inmates cannot communicate with other inmates in any other Waldo County facilities.

Any family and friends that want to write to write to the inmate must be put on the Request/Refusal Form for the staff to approve.

All incoming mail is subjected to being inspected by a jail staff. Outgoing mail will be checked to make sure the communication is not presenting any danger, escape plans, or extortion.

Sending Money

You can send money to help fund inmates a few different ways.

In-Person

You can put money in your inmate’s accounts in person. You can deposit cash into the kiosks available in the video visitation center and the main jail lobby in Waldo County Jail. The video visitation center is open from 8:30am to 8:30 pm. The main jail lobby is open from 7am to 11pm.

Online

You can fund your inmates account in Waldo County Jail online. You will have to create a TouchPay account. There is a fee that incurred with using this service.

Phone calls

Inmates in Waldo County Jail can call home to family and friends. While inmates are in the intake section, they can make free calls home. Once they get back to general population, calls do cost money. Local calls cost $2.25. Long distance calls cost $4.99 and $0.89 a minute.

Inmates will need to have a call list. Inmates can only have 20 numbers on a call list at a time. Once 20 numbers are on the list, changes will not be made for 6 weeks minimum.

Inmates can only have 15-minute phone calls.

Commissary

Commissary orders in Waldo County Jail can be made anytime. You can use the phones in the housing units to place your order. However, orders will be filled and delivered to inmates once a week. Inmates have a limit of $75 for food, $100 for hygiene products with a grand total of $175. However, clothing, entertainment, and other odds and ends do not count toward this limit.

Visiting Rules

Visitation must be scheduled through the Waldo County Jail’s website. Visitation can be scheduled no more than 7 days ahead of time. Visits that are canceled with less than 24 hours to the appointment will still count as a visit.

Both inmates and visitors are required to adhere to all visitation rules. If rules are broken, that could lead to termination of the visit or loss of visitation privileges.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
