The Washington County Jail is in Machias, Maine. The jails mission is to serve the public with care and compassion. They also make it their job to make sure that inmates are treated with respect and treated fairly, while keeping a safe, secure, and humane environment for everyone involved.

You can do an inmate look up at the Washington County Jail viewing their official website. You can search for inmates by their first and last name or their booking date.

You will find their name, date of birth, age when they got brought in, and what they got brought in for.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters in the mail. You will need to address the envelope as follows:

Writing materials can be purchased from the commissary. Inmates cannot communicate with other inmates in any other Washington County facilities.

Any family and friends that want to write to write to the inmate must be put on the Request/Refusal Form for the staff to approve.

All incoming mail is subjected to being inspected by a jail staff. Outgoing mail will be checked to make sure the communication is not presenting any danger, escape plans, or extortion.

Sending Money

You can send money to help fund inmates a few different ways.

In-Person

You can put money in your inmate’s accounts in person. You can deposit cash into the kiosks available in the video visitation center and the main jail lobby in Washington County Jail. The video visitation center is open from 8:30am to 8:30 pm. The main jail lobby is open from 7am to 11pm.

Online

You can fund your inmates account in Washington County Jail online. You will have to create a TouchPay account. There is a fee that incurred with using this service.

Visitation

Visitation must be scheduled through the Washington County Jail’s website. Visitation can be scheduled no more than 7 days ahead of time. Visits that are canceled with less than 24 hours to the appointment will still count as a visit.

Both inmates and visitors are required to adhere to all visitation rules. If rules are broken, that could lead to termination of the visit or loss of visitation privileges.
