Maryland Inmate Search

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining an updated database for those serving out their sentences in Maryland state prisons.

Currently, the database allows the public to search those inmates currently serving time. It currently does not provide information on everyone in the custody of the state of Maryland. You may find that some inmates with short sentences are not currently in the public database. Along with those who were once in custody, but not anymore; whether they escaped or got released.

Unlike the state of Maryland, Maryland’s city and county jails keep their records separate. If you need information on an inmate sitting in a city or county jail, you will need to get in touch with the proper authorities.

When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are the property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.

You can search the inmate list by using the following pieces of information:

• First Name
• Last Name

You will see the following pieces of information in the Maryland jails inmate search:

• Inmate Name
• Date of Birth

You can click on the inmate’s name to bring up their own personal file. When you do this, you will see the following information:

• SID
• Inmate Name
• Date of Birth
• DOC ID
• Holding Facility
