FCC Yazoo City is also known as the Federal Correctional Complex, Yazoo City. The facility is a federal correctional complex in Mississippi. FCC Yazoo City is operated and managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. 

The FCC Yazoo City is composed of three facilities at different security levels. These facilities are: 

•    FCI Yazoo City Low also known as the Federal Correctional Institution, Yazoo City Low. The facility is a low-security federal prison. Adjacent to the FCI Yazoo City Low is a minimum-security satellite prison camp. 
•    FCI Yazoo City Medium is also known as the Federal Correctional Institution, Yazoo City Medium. The facility is a medium-security federal prison. 
•    USP Yazoo City is also known as the United States Penitentiary, Yazoo City. The facility is a high-security federal prison.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates at FCC Yazoo City can receive written letters from their family and friends. Inmates can also receive books, magazines and newspapers. However, the books, magazines, and newspapers must be sent directly from the publisher. 

Inmates cannot receive care packages from home unless they get prior written approval from their unit supervisor or another authorized prison staff member. Inmates can receive their release clothes and authorized medical equipment.

It will be in your best interest to familiarize yourself with handbook as it is your responsibility to transition smoothly to prison life.

Commissary

The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions. 

The commissary allows inmates to shop for “luxury” items while they are in prison. Funds are typically deposited by their friends, families, and their prison jobs. 

Inmates have a spending limit of $360 per month. The commissary is only open on a designated day of the week where they can utilize the shop. 

All federal prisons have their commissary list with prices available to the public. 

Legal Activities

Even when in prison, you may still need legal counsel. There are strict procedures one will have to follow to obtain legal reference materials alongside their legal counsel.

Visitation

Inmates can receive visitors when they are at the FCC Yazoo City. Visitors will need to be put on the approved visitors list. Inmates can do this, or visitors can fill out the form and turn it in themselves. Visitors will need to leave all personal belongings in the car and only bring in their driver’s license or their state identification card. 

Visiting hours vary when it comes to all the facilities. You will need to pay attention to the hours of the facility you will be visiting.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.

FCI Yazoo City Low has six housing units. Within these housing units are dormitories. Within the dormitories there are two-person cells. There are no individual cells in FCI Yazoo City Low. All inmates will have to share their cell with a fellow inmate. 

In the satellite prison camp adjacent to the FCI Yazoo City Low, they have their inmates housed in dormitories.
