When people get arrested in Las Vegas, they typically will get brought to the Las Vegas City Jail. The Las Vegas City Jail is also commonly known as the City of Las Vegas Detention Center.  

The Las Vegas City jail is not commonly confused with the Clark County Detention Center. They are separate facilities. Typically, those being booked on misdemeanors will be brought to the Las Vegas City Jail.

Finding an inmate at the Las Vegas City Jail is easier than ever now. There is no phone calls. There is no waiting on hold while they try and locate the inmate you are looking for. 

Now, you can hop on over to the City of Las Vegas official website and do an inmate search right there! Yes, The City of Las Vegas Jail has their database open to the public to search. 

You can easily search by the inmates first and last name and their inmate ID number. When you search for an inmate, their first and last name, their inmate ID number, age, race, gender, and their booking date will show. 

You will need to click on their name to see what charges they are being charged with.  

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters from their family and friends back home. They are not permitted to send or receive any photographs or packages. All mail that does not conform to the Las Vegas City Jail rules will be returned to sender.

There are a few different ways to send money to inmates.

Online

You can go to the Access Corrections website. You will need to create an account. This service does incur a fee.

Phone

If you are not near a computer, you can always call 866-345-1884 to put money in an inmates account. Please note this service incurs a fee.

In Person

You can use the kiosk located inside the jail’s visitation area. The kiosk is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6am to 10am and 2pm and 4pm.

The kiosks are open on Saturdays between the hours of 6pm to 9:30pm and Sunday between the hours of 7:30am to 9:30am and 7pm to 9:30pm.

The kiosks accept Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and cash payments. Money deposited through the kiosk will instantly get put into the inmates account.

However, the kiosks will not accept money orders.

Visitation

When you want to visit an inmate at the Las Vegas City Jail, you will need to have the inmate submit the full name and their date of birth of those who want to visit. All visitors will need to be on the inmates approved visitors list. Each visitor will need to provide their government ID. 

The visitation schedule is as follows: 

Saturday
Unit 1, 3 & 6:  7pm to 7:45pm for general population inmates
Unit 1 3 & 6: 8pm to 8:45pm for general population inmates
Unit 1, 3, 4 & 7:  9pm to 9:45pm for male isolation inmates

Sunday
Unit 2: 7am to 7:45am for general population inmates
Unit 2: 8 am to 8:45am for general population inmates
Unit 2 & 7: 9am to 9:45am for female isolation inmates
Unit 5: 7pm to 7:45pm for general population inmates
Unit 5: 8pm to 8:45pm for general population inmates
Unit 5: 9pm to 9:45pm for general population inmates

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
