Prison Life

At the FCI Otisville, their housing units are made up of two-person cells. Every inmate will have to share their cell with one of their fellow inmates.

Inmates housed in the satellite prison camp will either be housed in dormitories, or they will be housed in cubes.

The facility is surrounded by a razor wire fencing alongside armed horse mounted correctional officers. During a portion of FCI Otisville history, they once allowed inmates to have work assignments in the sawmill along with helping produce maple syrup.

Today at the FCI Otisville, they offer their inmates vocational training that includes building maintenance, horticulture, masonry, and small engine repair.

FCI Otisville also allows inmates to work with training dogs. This program is one of a kind. They call this program the puppies behind bars program.

While inmates are serving time in FCI Otisville, they can work towards getting their GED. With the help of private funding, inmates can even take college courses through the John Jay College.

That is not all that the FCI Otisville has to offer their inmates. They can even partake in life/problem-solving skills, substance, and alcohol abuse programs, and so much more.
