Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters from their family and friends. Letters are delivered to inmates Monday through Friday by the United States Postal Service.

All incoming mail will be opened and checked by the jail staff.

Inmates can receive books, newspapers, magazines, however, they need to be sent directly from the publishers. Any books sent from a personal address will be denied.

When legal mail is sent, it will still be opened by jail staff, but instead, it will be opened in the presence of the inmate it was addressed to.

You cannot send envelopes or stamps to an inmate.

To fund an inmate’s account, the Scotland County Jail takes money orders. When making the money order, you will need to make sure it has their first and last name, housing assignment and docket number. You bring money orders to the visitation center 7 days a week.

If you are not feeling like getting a money order, you can either send money to, or even just order your inmates commissary by going through MyCarepack.com.

You can deposit money into the account by calling 910-277-3166. There is a fee that goes along with this service.

You can also go to the kiosk that is in the lobby too. The kiosk accepts cash, Visa, and Mastercard. The kiosks are available 24/7

Visitation

In order to visit an inmate, you must schedule an appointment. All visitation appointments are 40 minutes long.

There is a three-person max for visitation. This means either 1 adult and 2 children, 3 adults, or 2 adults and 1 child.

Minors must be accompanied by their legal guardian. All adults must have a government ID handy in order to get into the visitation area.

Also, keep in mind that there is a dress code for the Scotland County Jail that you will need to adhere to.

You can visit as often as there are appointments. Keep in mind that you will need to adhere to all the jail rules to prevent yourself from being denied visitation rights.

Holiday

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
