North Carolina Inmate Search

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety has been keeping records of inmates in North Carolina state prisons since 1972.

You can search for inmates by their first and last name, their inmate ID, gender, date of birth, race, and other identifying information. The database contains inmates, parolees, and probationers. The database also includes tools where you can locate escapees, captured, inmate releases, and absconders.

However, the department of corrections database does not include any city or county jails. If you are needing information on an inmate in either a county or city jails, you will need to contact the proper authorities.

When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.
