The facility was replacing the antiquated building. The Antiquated building was actually on top of the city of Zanesville’s old courthouse.

While in jail inmates will need money for their telephone account, their commissary account, and for other miscellaneous fees that they acquire while being behind bars.

There are a few different ways you can fund their accounts.

Online

Online depositing is the most convenient method. Especially for those family and friends that do not live close to the Zanesville Jail.

Zanesville Jail contracts with SmartDeposit.com to fund their inmates accounts. When you create an account, you will need to enter 5500 as your pay location code. After that, you will need to follow the remaining prompts. It will walk you through the entire process. Once you go through the process once, you will be able to breeze through it again in the future.

In Person

If you live close to the Zanesville Jail, you can come on down to the lobby of the jail and make a cash or a credit/debit card deposit. This option is one of the newer options, and it is very similar to bank ATM. There are fees that is associated with this method too. As of today, you can only deposit a maximum of $100 for credit and debit cards and $200 for cash deposits.

Lobby Drop Box

If you would rather skip the fees, you can also drop off cash, money orders, and cashier’s checks in the drop box located in the jail visitation lobby. There are envelopes next to the dropbox. You will need to fill out the envelope to fully complete the deposit. All deposits will be posted the next business day.

Visitation

The Zanesville Jail has a contract with Securus Technologies for their video visitation needs. Visitors must schedule an appointment to have a video visitation with an inmate.

Visitation is only permitted for 20 minutes. Visitors will need to register with Securus Technologies 24 hours in advance of their visitation appointment. Visitation must be done from a computer, no smartphones or tablets allowed.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
