The FCI Elkton is also known as the Federal Correctional Institution, Elkton. The prison is a federal prison. It is a low-security prison in Elkton Ohio. The facility is operated and managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Adjacent to FCI Elkton is a satellite prison camp. This satellite prison camp housing low-security and minimum-security inmates.
FCI Elkton opened their doors in 1997. It is also a part of the Sex Offender Management Program. Some of their most notable inmates are Peter Gotti, who was convicted for conspiracy to commit murder and extortion along with Joseph Vas, who was convicted for corruption among other convictions.
The main campus has 1,864 male inmates while the prison satellite camp has 434 male inmates.

The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions.
The commissary allows inmates to shop for “luxury” items while they are in prison. Funds are typically deposited by their friends, families, and their prison jobs.
Inmates have a spending limit of $360 per month. The commissary is only open on a designated day of the week where they can utilize the shop.

Even when in prison, you may still need legal counsel. There are strict procedures one will have to follow to obtain legal reference materials alongside their legal counsel.

All visitors over the age of 16 must have a government ID to enter visitation area. Children under the age of 16 are permitted in the visitation area, they must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Children in the visitation area, must behave or the visit with the inmate will be terminated.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.

The entire FCI Elkton facility, the main campus, and the satellite camp has 5 house buildings. The main campus is made up of 3 housing units. The satellite camp has the other 2 house building.
All housing units are 2 stories tall. They have cells on both floors. Cells are two-person cells. The satellite prison camp housing unit is dormitory-style housing. It is very similar to army barracks with rows and rows of bunk beds.
The facility is surrounded by a fence to keep inmates in the prison premises.
