Sending a Mail/Care Package

Yes! Inmates can receive letters in the mail. To send a letter to an inmate at the Lorain Correctional Institution you will need to address the envelope like this:

You will need to head on over to AccessCorrections.com. Before you can do anything, you will need to make an account. Any transaction completed online will incur a fee of $6.95.


The kiosks are open during the prisons regular business hours. These kiosks accept debit cards, credit cards, and cash. There is a $3.50 fee for cash transaction. There is also a $3.95 fee for debit and credit card transactions.

Phone calls

Inmates are allowed to call home. You are not allowed to call inmates. All calls are monitored. Three-way calling is not permitted. Calls are typically only 15-20 minutes long to make sure everyone has a chance to use the telephone.

If you can pass the background check, you should be approved. This entire process can take 3 to 6 weeks to fully complete. You will need to keep in touch with the inmate to find out your visitation status.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.

You can visit 3 times per the four-day visiting block. The visits can last a maximum of 2 hours.
