The Umatilla County Jail is also known as the Umatilla County Correctional Facility. The facility is a state-of-the-art prison. 

The jail can hold up to 252 inmates at a given time. The Umatilla County Jail mission is to protect the community while also keeping the inmates in a safe and secure environment. 

All correctional officers working in the Umatilla County Jail must be certified by the State of Oregon and have their 40 hours of training done.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates in the Umatilla County Jail can receive written letters from their family and friends. These letters will be checked by jail staff upon arrival for safety issues. After the staff examines all the mail, they will pass them out to the correct inmates. 

When sending items to the prison along with your letters, there are a lot of things you should refrain from sending. Such as the following:

Inmates in the Umatilla County Jail can also receive books, magazines, and newspapers. The books, magazines, and newspapers will need to be delivered directly to the prison from the bookstore or publisher. All incoming books will be required to be paperback. All hardcover books are prohibited. If a hardcover book is sent, it will be sent back to the sender. Keep in mind that all books will need to be new too. Used books are not permitted.

Inmates in the Umatilla County Jail will need money for a variety of things. They will need money to purchase items from the commissary. Inmates will also need funds to call home to their family and friends.

The Umatilla County Jail utilizes Telmate for their money needs. You can log on to the Telmate site and deposit funds that way.

You can use the kiosk that is in the visitation lobby area. This kiosk accepts cash, credit, and debit. However, this kiosk will not accept coins.

If you are not close to the jail, or you rather not go down there, you can deposit money over the phone by calling 1-866-516-0115. You can deposit funds using either your credit or debit card.

Visitation

Inmates in the Umatilla County Jail are permitted to receive visitors. Visiting is on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is no visiting on any holidays. You may schedule a visit up to 7 days in advance. You will need to contact the Jail Reception at 541-966-3632 during normal business hours to schedule a visit. 

You can contact the Jail Reception between Monday through Friday between 7:30am to 11:30am and 12:30pm to 4:30pm.

Female visiting hours are the following: 

10am to 10:30am 
3pm to 4pm

Male visiting hours are the following:

7:30am to 8am 
8:30am to 9:30am 
1pm to 1:30pm 
2pm to 2:30pm

Keep in mind when visiting you will need to bring a proper identification card such as, a driver’s license, United States Passport, or a state identification card.

How Often Can I Visit?

If the inmate is in good standing and visiting is still permitted, you will be able to visit. Keep in mind that all visits need to be scheduled.

Holiday

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
