Prison Life

The inmates that are housed in the Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management are housed in dormitories. These dormitories are equipped with communal bathrooms, sleeping quarters and common areas. All inmates have access to every part of the dormitory. Inmates will be bunking with their fellow inmates. No inmates will have their own room.

The life at the Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management is structured. It is not as structured as the other federal prisons, but it still has some sort of structure, nonetheless. Inmates primary job when in the Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management program is to work on themselves. This means, they will have work assignments. They will have time to enroll in courses such as education, drug-related courses, and release prep. Everyone in the Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management has a job to do.

Inmates do have some downtime too. This downtime is usually spent in their dormitory common areas. They can socialize with the other inmates, play board games, watch television, or just lounge around. When it is time to get up and do things, they will be required to get up and complete their tasks.

The Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management wants inmates to succeed when they leave their care. One of the main things inmates will need when they are on the outside is a support system. This is where the inmate’s friends and family come in. It is vital to obtain an open communication with the inmate, whether it is visiting, phone calls, or letters.
