Prison Life

Inmates housed in Nashville Residential Reentry Management are housed in dormitory style housing. These dormitories come equipped with communal bathrooms and common areas for television, board games, or just lounging around.

Inmates sleeping quarters will be shared. All inmates will have to bunk with their fellow inmates. Inmates will not have their own individual rooms. The housing assignments are randomized when inmates go through the admissions process.

When inmates have their downtime, they are able to play board games with one another, socialize, use the telephone to call home, watch television, or just relax. When using the telephone inmates will be allotted 15 minutes per call. This is to allow all inmates to have time to use the phone if they desire.

Inmates do not have downtime all day. Inmates will be required to fulfill their work assignments. Inmates that are healthy enough to hold a job, will do so. All housing assignments are not inside the four prison walls. The Nashville Residential Reentry Management has many jobs outside the prison walls. Inmates will be able to have a job outside of prison. The Nashville Residential Reentry Management contracts with numerous organizations throughout the community for this privilege.

Inmates that are not well enough to hold a job, will be required to enroll in either an educational course, release preparation course, or drug education course. These courses can be mandatory for some inmates depending on their educational level and if they have a drug-related crime. These courses will help ready all the inmates for their release date and what is to come after they leave the custody of Nashville Residential Reentry Management.
