FCI Petersburg Low also known as Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg Low. The facility is a low-security federal prison. Adjacent to the FCI Petersburg is a minimum-security satellite prison camp.
FCI Petersburg Medium also known as Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg Medium. The facility is a medium-security federal prison.

FCI Petersburg Low Admissions & Orientation Handbook
The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions.
The commissary allows inmates to shop for “luxury” items while they are in prison. Funds are typically deposited by their friends, families, and their prison jobs.
Inmates have a spending limit of $360 per month. The commissary is only open on a designated day of the week where they can utilize the shop.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.

FCC Petersburg also has a law library, which inmates use regularly to look up specifics for their appeals.
FCC Petersburg is also one out of the many prisons that offer any sort of sex offender treatment programs. The Sex Offender Management Program also known as SOMP was designed to aid and manage the Federal Bureau of Prisons sex offenders. The program assesses and evaluate, while treating and monitoring their inmates. The Sex Offender Management Program is completely non-voluntary. It is up to the staff to determine if an inmate will engage in this type of behavior or not. However, the other elements that the Sex Offender Management Program has is completely voluntary.
Inmates housed in the FCI Petersburg Low are houses in six housing units. These housing units are either open dormitories or they are two-person cells. Majority of the housing units in FCI Petersburg Low do not have air conditioning.
