The West Virginia Division of Correction is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining an updated database on those individuals who are serving out their time in West Virginia state prisons. The database is open to the public to use and is located on the West Virginia Division of Corrections official website. The database only contains those currently sitting behind bars, those on probation, and those who are on parole in West Virginia. The offenders that completed their time under West Virginia Division of Corrections will not be in the database.
You can search the database by the offender’s ID number or their first and last name. Unlike the state of West Virginia, West Virginia city and county jails are not included in the states database. They keep their records separate. You will need to contact the proper authorities, if you are looking for someone in a city or county jail.
When an inmate is serving out their time in a state prison, they are property of that states Department of Corrections. Every states department of corrections has their very own database that is for the public to use. You will need to do the following to find an inmate in a state prison.
Once you enter that information on the next page, you will see all the inmates matching the criteria you put in.
