Alaska Department of Corrections is the agency where all records of inmates serving their sentence out in Alaska state prisons are kept. The department of corrections in Alaska keeps one main updated inmate database of all inmates currently incarcerated throughout the state, where the general public can search and use.
Unlike the state of Alaska, the county jails alongside the city jails each have their own inmate databases that you will need to go to their individual websites for further details on how to correctly search through their inmates. If you prefer calling the Alaska Department of Corrections office to get your records, you can reach them at 907-465-3485.
When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.
The Alaska Department of Corrections database can be found on the official VINELink website. You will need to select the state of Alaska. You will then want to select that you are searching for an offender or a defendant.
You can search the database by using the following pieces of information:
For an accurate search, it is best to put in the offenders full first and last name. You can do partial if you are not sure of the spelling, but keep in mind that may bring up more offenders that you will need to weed through.

Here you will be permitted to set up notifications. These notifications can come through mail, phone calls, and text messages. Whenever an update is made to this chart, you will be notified. The inmate will not know that you are subscribed to these alerts and will NEVER be permitted to have these details either.
As we stated above, the only prisons you will be able to find in the Alaska Inmate Finder are state-operated facilities. All city and county jails are NOT in this database whatsoever.
In the state of Alaska, there is 18 state prisons. These prisons are available in the above database. All other prisons that are not listed below will NOT come up in the roster. Keep this in mind when searching for an inmate.
Not finding who you are looking for? If they are in one of the above facilities and just been booked within the past 24-72 hours, it is best to contact the facility directly.
If you are not finding an inmate, chances are they are not in one of the above facilities or they have been released and not showing up in the database. The database only displays information on current inmates.
The Alaska Department of Corrections offender search database is updated regularly. It is typically updated during normal business hours. You will notice that inmate’s information can change quite frequently. Especially, if they have court proceedings and such.
If you have any questions or want to have the updated information, you will be required to contact the facility that the inmate is in. They will have the utmost updated information available on the inmate.
If you believe the information on an inmate is incorrect, you will want to contact the facility in which the inmate is held to dispute the information.
In the jail roster, you will also find the inmate’s mugshot. This mugshot is taken when an inmate is being booked and processed into a state prison. The mugshots typically do not change unless an inmate is getting transferred into another state prison facility.
One thing that the Alaska Department of Corrections database does not talk about is parole. The parole is separate and dealt with a different group of people. If you would like to get in contact with them about an upcoming parole hearing, you can do so by calling 907-269-4642.
You will be able to sift through the years prior Parole Board Meetings audio files here. Keep in mind that you will need to contact the parole board to find out when an inmate’s going before the board. This information is not readily available on the internet for the general public. You’ll need to contact the board with the proper information, so they can look it up for you.
You may notice that there is not a way to search for sex offenders in the Alaska inmate search. That’s because the sex offender search is in a whole different database. Just like the DOC inmate locator this database is available to the general public to use also.
The sex offender database can be found on the Alaska Department of Public Safety official website.
You can search this database by the following pieces of information:
Keep in mind that you will be able to search the database by either the offenders name or the address fields.
This offender search is strictly for offenders that are NOT in a state prison. These offenders are out on their own in the community.
