About Florida Department of Corrections

The Florida Department of Corrections is the agency responsible for maintaining inmates serving their sentence in Florida state prisons. A single search in their database can find the following:

•    Inmate Escapes
•    Inmate Population
•    Supervised Population
•    Inmate Releases
•    Absconder/Fugitive.

In order to search the department's database, you will need the inmates DC number, or their first and last name. Florida Department of Corrections prides themselves on keeping their information up to date, but at times these records may not show the current status of an inmate, if proceedings are happening all at once.

Unlike the state of Florida, the city and county jails keep their own records, so if you are looking for an inmate in one of those jails. You will need to locate the appropriate site for further details.

How to Do an Inmate Search in Florida

Nationwide Inmate Records Online Check

Jail records, court & arrest records, mugshots and even judicial reports.

When an offender is housed in a state prison, they are the property of the Department of Corrections Division. As stated above every state’s Department of Corrections Division has their own jail roster or database that the general public may use.

The Florida Department of Corrections offender search database can be found on the official Florida Department of Corrections website.

You can search the inmate list by using the following pieces of information:

The DC number will take precedence during all searches. The DC is a six-digit number. All incoming inmates will be assigned their DC number by the Florida Department of Corrections. This will be the easiest and quickest way to locate an inmate.

If you decide to enter their DC number in the field provided, you will NOT need to enter their first and last name. However, the DC field will only show results for the EXACT number you have entered, so you will want to double check, if no results pop up.

If you don’t know the inmate’s DC number or there is no search results for the DC number you plugged in, the next thing you can do is search by the inmate’s first and last name.

When you finally get some search results, you will see a list of all inmates that fit the criteria you plugged in. This is not a release search. All inmates are currently sitting behind bars.

You will see the following pieces of information in the Florida jails inmate search:

You can click on the inmate’s name to bring up their own personal file. When you do this, you will see the following information:
