Inmates in the Sedgwick County Jail can receive written letters from their family and friends back home. These written letters will be checked by jail staff upon arrival. Inmates in the Sedgwick County Jail can also receive books, magazines, and newspapers. Inmates in the Sedgwick County Jail will need money to purchase items from the commissary. Every inmate in good standing will be permitted to have one hour of free on-site visitation every calendar week. Inmates can also request more additional on-site visitation, but there will be a fee associated with them. It will be the same rate as the remote visitation.
For the remote visitation, they must be scheduled a minimum of 24-hours in advance. If it is your first time using the remote visitation, you will need to be approved by the jail staff. This will be done through Monday to Friday.
Minors will be permitted to visit, but they will need to be accompanied by their legal guardian. To be permitted to visit, everyone over the age of 18 must present either their driver’s license, State identification card, United States Passport, or Military ID for verification. Children over the age of 12, will need to show their school identification card or their birth certificate.

The visiting starts in first in, first out type of fashion. No new visitors will be allowed in 45 minutes before the end of the visit day. 45 minutes before the end of the visit day officers start escorting those who were first in out of the visitor room.
