During their rehabilitation process, receive letters from their family and friends is vital. Inmates should know they have a support system on the outside that they can count on when they are released from the Detroit Residential Reentry Management.
Inmates cannot receive packages though. The only time they can receive packages is when they have prior consent from an authorized prison staff member. Without consent, inmates can receive their release clothing and their authorized medical equipment.
Inmates can also receive newspapers, books, and magazines through the mail too. The only condition with receiving these items is that it needs to be sent directly to the prison from the publisher. You will not be able to send these items from home. If these items are sent from home, they will be rejected. Keep in mind that all incoming books will need to be paperback books only. The hardcover books will not be permitted.

Inmates housed in Detroit Residential Reentry Management are housed in dormitories. Within these dormitories, you will find communal bathrooms and common areas. The housing assignments are done when inmates are going through the admissions process. Inmates will not have their own space. They will be bunking with their fellow inmates.
Inmates in the Detroit Residential Reentry Management program will be required to work. If inmates are healthy enough to have a work assignment, they will have a work assignment. These work assignments are not just in the prison itself. Work assignments in the Detroit Residential Reentry Management are also out in the community. The Detroit Residential Reentry Management works with many organizations throughout the community to allow inmates to work with the general public.
Inmates that are not healthy enough to work will be required to take either educational classes, drug education courses, or release preparation classes. Inmates are not allowed to sit down and pass their time. They must be actively working on themselves, gaining knowledge, and ultimately getting ready to be a productive member of society.
