CI Big Spring is also known as Big Spring Correctional Center. The prison is a low-security prison. It is in Big Spring, Texas.

The facility is home to 1,626 male offenders. The prison is a private prison. It is managed and operated by Geo Group. It houses all of the federal “deportable alien” prisoners.

In 2010, the prison was accredited by the American Correctional Association. The prison was then re-accredited in 2012 and 2015.

CI Big Spring is commonly confused with FCI Big Spring. CI Big Spring has four different locations including Airpark, Cedar Hill, Flightline, and Interstate.

In 2016, the Federal Bureau of Prisons announced that they will be phasing out their contracted facilities such as CI Big Spring. The reasoning behind this was due to their lack of safety and there was no real cost savings keeping them open.

It was not until early 2017, that Jeff Sessions, Attorney General criticized such decision, and Federal Bureau of Prisons decided to reverse their decision. The contracted facilities will remain open and operational, and their contracts will renew.

We have given below important need to know information such as how to find someone at CI Big Spring, how to send money, mail, care packages and visit an inmate.

Commissary

The commissary was founded in 1930 by the Department of Justice. The Commissary was placed in all Federal Institutions.
